Why Raise

Learn how the game actually works

  • Most founders don't fail to raise because their business isn't good enough. They fail because nobody told them how the game actually works.
  • Raise is a full day built to change that. You'll hear straight from investors about what they look for, understand where the market really is right now, and learn how to find the right investors instead of chasing whoever's in the room.
  • And you won't do it alone. You'll leave with founders at your stage who become the people you text when the term sheet lands, or when it doesn't.
  • We are also celebrating four years of Female Founders Rise, and the founders in our community who have raised, grown and proved what is possible.

What it's about

Celebrate, educate and connect

Celebrate

Showcasing FFR members' achievements - accelerator graduates, money raised and success stories - and marking FFR's fourth birthday.

Educate

The fundamentals of fundraising, the state of the market, what investors look for, how angel collectives and investor types work, and how to get in front of the right investors.

Connect

Help founders find their "founder besties" - peers at a similar stage or in a similar sector who become their ongoing support network.

The day

On the agenda

  • Coffee and networking from 8:30am, lunch and sector networking through the day
  • State of the Union: where the UK and European fundraising market is right now, and an EIS panel on how S/EIS works and how to use it in your raise
  • Reverse pitch: four angels and VCs pitch to you, so you hear what they back and why
  • Founder raise stories from FFR accelerator founders who've raised between £426k and £791k, and getting grant funding from founders who've done it
  • Founder showcases: B2B and B2C founders pitch live and get real investor feedback, and Pitch Perfect on what makes a pitch land
Outcomes

You'll leave knowing

  • Where the fundraising market is right now, and your next steps
  • What investors look for, in their own words
  • How to find and approach the right investors for your business
  • Who your peers are, with real connections made on the day
  • That raising is achievable, because you'll have met the founders who've done it
